Our Clinic Policies

Nicollet Veterinary Clinic is pleased to provide you with our policies and important information that can simplify the process of getting veterinary care for your pet.

Payment Policy

Payment is due in full at the time services are rendered. We accept cash, personal checks, VISA, MasterCard, and Discover cards. We also accept Care Credit which provides credit for health-related expenses interest-free for up to six months. (Apply at

Appointment Policy

Office hours are by appointment.

Calling as early as possible for a sick animal will give us the best opportunity to schedule an appointment to meet your pet’s needs. Please tell our staff if you feel your animal needs to be seen immediately, or today, if it is very ill. Asking for a doctor to call you may delay treatment because they often cannot get to their messages until the end of the day.

Preventative health care appointments are offered Monday through Saturday. Elective surgeries are scheduled Monday through Friday.

Nicollet Veterinary Clinic prefers that you make an appointment prior to your visit, unless your pet is experiencing a life-threatening emergency. General walk-in visits will be accommodated only if our schedule allows, and we cannot guarantee that your pet will be seen that day.

For emergencies after office hours, please call (507) 225-3401. After you leave a message for the doctor-on-call, please stay off the phone so the doctor can return your call.

Late Arrivals Policy

Clients arriving late for their appointment may need to reschedule or make other arrangements. Clients that fail to show for two or more appointments may be asked to schedule only for same-day appointments.

Appointment Cancellation Policy

Please give us a 24-hour notice to cancel an outpatient appointment and a 48-hour notice for a surgery appointment. We greatly appreciate your understanding of this request to allow us ample time to fill our schedule with other patients.

E-mail Policy

Nicollet Veterinary Clinic is currently not able to give medical advice, accept prescription orders, schedule or cancel appointments, or conduct hospital business via E-mail. Please contact us by phone or in person.


Advice or information provided on our website is intended for educational purposes only. It is not intended to replace the veterinarian/patient relationship that is required to maintain the health of your pet.

Your pet should be seen annually by a veterinarian for regular check-ups, immunizations, and appropriate diagnostic tests. A veterinarian cannot diagnose an ailment or prescribe treatment for an animal without an examination.
